STARaCom/Centre Déclic collaborated in a talk by Prof. Fabrice Labeau on the Internet of Things -IOT/"L'internet des objets" for the general public. Broadcasted in French by two libraries: Vieux-Saint-Laurent and Île-Bizard. Topics discussed were: Internet, how the objects connect, the applications of IoT in different fields, intelligent networks, smart cities, RFID, radio waves, sensors, expectations and challenges, standards, cybersecurity, social acceptability.
Gunes Karabulut-Kurt's Collaboration with Centre Declic:
STARaCom/Centre Déclic collaborated in a presentation by Prof. Gunes Karubulut-Kurt on Satellite megaconstellations: megapromises and megarisks. /“Mégaconstellations de satellites: mégapromesses et mégarisques.” for the general public. This talk was presented in French at the “Lounge ludique du Festival Lévisium , Lévis” and broadcasted at the Nuns Island library. The topics discussed were: a brief history of Internet and Internet connection; the role of satellites in telecommunications and in bridging the world’s digital divide; a definition of satellite constellations and megaconstellations, and its advantages and disadvantages.
