More than 150 STARaCom members, students and industry affiliates gathered at McGill University’s NRH conference centre to participate in workshops focusing on subjects of relevance to research teams.

Representatives from The National Research Council (NRC) and Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) gave informative presentations to members on new and continuing research opportunities in Canada.

A workshop on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, led by FRQNT Strategic Advisor Fanny Eugène and McGill’s Deputy Provost Fabrice Labeau, engaged researchers in this timely conversation.

Industry representatives from Keysight, Anritsu and Rohde & Schwarz highlighted some of the new tools for the burgeoning 5G technology.

Fellowships was the topic of a workshop for student attendees, detailing the process for fellowship and grant applications.

Graduate students from STARaCom’s member institutions entered 68 posters in the afternoon competition, displaying their research over the past year. Prizes were awarded to Shahin Sheikh (Concordia University), Mohammadjavad Hajikhani (McGill University), and Desong Wang (Polytechnique Montréal).
